LATES AT SUDBURY ARTS CENTRE – MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL TALKS – £8

Jo Hickey-Hall – Fae Folk in the medieval mindset
Folklorist, researcher and social historian with a long-held interest in the relationship between supernatural experience, local landscape and oral tradition. I was born in Jersey, an island scattered with a network of ancient dolmens and rich in folklore.  Partly due to my Irish heritage and the wonderful folktales of my father, I am particularly inspired by the survival of oral lore in rural communities.

Bethan Briggs-Miller (Eerie Essex) – Strange tales from medieval Suffolk
Creator and presenter of Eerie Essex podcast exploring the folklore, urban legends and supernatural encounters that form part of the region’s rich history.

Gemma Oakley – What has Folk ever done for us? Why now is the time to revisit medieval agricultural celebrations.
Our Engagement Officer at Sudbury Arts Centre gives an overview of  the philosophy of our Medieval Festival

Closing remarks and Panel Chair – Ashley Cooper, Local Historian and Farmer
