The Best Of Film Music – Gershwin, Morricone and John Williams
The concert is themed around film music with exciting young stars as soloists, Isabella Patrick on violin and Jasper Rebel on clarinet and Robert Badea on accordion. Featuring Gershwin’s Promenade Walking the Dog from the 1937 film Shall We Dance, two great violin solos, the first from the wonderful Morricone’s Cinema Paradiso (listen to it here) and the second is the theme song by John Williams for the 1993 film Schindler’s List (listen to it here). The second half ends with John William’s really uplifting clarinet solo portraying the main character Viktor Navorsky (and so it is called Viktor’s Tale) from the 2004 film Terminal by Stephen Spielberg.
To round off the evening Lars Eric Larsson’s Third Symphony – while this work is not film related Larsson wrote a fair amount of film music (and radio music and TV music) so we think it qualifies for the concert on those grounds. Check it out here.
